CHAPTER XXVII.

An Act for granting Lands to the Inhabitants and Settlers at Vincennes and the Illinois Country, in the Territory north-west of the Ohio, and for confirming them in their Poffeffions.

Sec. 4. And be it further enacted, That Improvers where lands have been actually improved and cultivated at Vincennes, or in the Illinois country, under a fuppofed grant of the fame, by any commandant or court claiming authorielaims con- ty to make fuch grant, the governor of the faid territory be, and he hereby is empowered to confirm to the perfons who made fuch improvements, their heirs or affigns, the lands fuppofed to have been granted as aforefaid, or fuch parts thereof as he, in his discretion, may judge reafonable, not exceeding to any one perfon, four hundred acres.
