Business firms sending goods to customers in other cities often send at the same time sight drafts for the amount of the goods. These drafts must be accepted before the goods will be released by the freight company.

A time draft differs from a sight draft in being payable a certain time after sight or after a certain date.

This is a time draft "at thirty days sight," payable through a bank.

Money may be sent safely through the mails by means of postal money orders which may be secured at any post office upon the payment of the fees shown in this table. With each money order a receipt is given which guarantees the sender against loss.

Money orders are made payable to a definite person or firm just as checks are, and no one else can collect them unless the orders are properly indorsed and made payable to some one else.

6. Mrs. Anderson sent away three money orders one day. One was for $1.80, the second was for $3.50, and the third was for $10. What was the total cost, including fees?

7. Bring in original problems about money orders. They may be orders that have actually been sent or orders for things that you would like to buy from some out-of-town firms.

8. Appoint some pupil to obtain from a post office one of the application blanks used in buying a money order. Learn how to fill it out properly.

Express Money Orders

Sending Money by Telegraph

In cases of emergency it is possible to send money quickly by telegraph. The rates are higher than the rates for postal or express money orders. The rates for sending money by telegraph are based on the corresponding rates for a tenword telegram, as is shown in this table.

Sending Money by Radio

One of the large express companies sends money abroad by radio at these rates:
