Pay Rolls

This is a part of the weekly pay roll of a firm of contractors. The superintendent, foremen, and the timekeeper are recorded by name. The other men are represented by numbers.

The amount due is found by multiplying the total hours by the rate per hour. The amount paid represents money advanced before the end of the week.

The balance due is the amount due less any amount paid in advance. The pay roll is made out in part. See if you can complete it.

On the contractor's pay roll, which column must be added in order to find the total pay roll for the week? How much is the pay roll for the week given?

This is part of the weekly pay roll of a department store. The record is kept by days instead of hours. When a clerk is present an entire day, a check mark (√) is put in the proper square. If the clerk is present only half a day, is put in the

square.

From the pay roll we see that Rogers worked the entire 6 days and that his rate is $25 a week. The amount of his salary is $25 and as he bought no merchandise in the store, the amount due him is $25.

Welsh worked 5 days at $12 a week, or $2 a day. As he was out day, he loses $1 in wages, so the amount of his salary is $11. He bought $2 worth of merchandise during the week, so the amount due him is $11 - $2 = $9.

Fill in the amount of salary and the amount due for the rest of the clerks.

At the beginning of each year many farmers take an inventory of their farms, showing the value of the farm itself, the feed, machinery, cattle, etc. A comparison of the different items from year to year and of the totals is of much interest and importance to a farmer in making his plans and carrying on his business.

This is the inventory of a South Dakota farmer for a recent year. Fill in the proper blank columns. Also find the total values at the beginning and end of the year, the total increase or decrease, and the % increase or decrease.
