The figure 1 in the first place on the right expresses only its simple number one, and is called a unit of the first order; 1 in the second place expresses ten, or ten times one, and is called a unit of the second order ; 1 in the third place expresses one hundred, or ten times ten, and is called a unit of the third order; 1 in the fourth place expresses one thousand, and is a unit of the fourth order; 1 in the fifth place expresses ten thousand, and is a unit of the fifth order, and 1 in the sixth place expresses one hundred thousand, and is a unit of the sixth order. The number expressed by this line of figures is one hundred eleven thousand one hundred and eleven.
