any presumptuous sins have dominion

over us.

Make us more conformable to the pattern and precepts of our blessed Lord; transform us more into his holy image, that we may not disgrace our holy profession, nor cause the way of truth to be evil spoken of; but may our light so shine before men, to the glory of thee our heavenly Father, and to the edification of those around us.

Pity and convert the wicked; and may it please thee to bring into the of truth all such as have erred and are deceived.

May it please thee to succour, help, and comfort all that are in danger, necessity, and tribulation, and to have mercy upon all men.

Thou hast been pleased to spare us not only through another day, but

through another week; make us thankful for the continuance of our comforts, and the lengthening of our existence. But let us never forget that here we have no continuing city, that we may seek one to come. On this account may the Sabbath, that awaits us, be profitable to our never-dying souls, and may we avail ourselves of its privileges and blessings, that we may grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. May we remember our accountability for them; that where much is given, much will be required; and that they never leave us as they find us, but always prove the savour of life unto life, or of death unto death.

But they never forfeited the care of their Creator, while we have rebelled against thee, and rendered ourselves obnoxious in thy sight. We deserve, as rebels and disobedient children, that thy wrath should fall on us to the uttermost. Yet, such is the greatness of thy mercy and the excellency of thy lovingkindness, O Lord, that the children of men, unworthy and guilty as they are, are allowed to come and put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.

We bless thee for the appointment of of the Sabbath; for the word of thy truth; and the knowledge of our salvavation. May we improve the Sabbath to the advantage of our souls; read thy word, mark, learn, and inwardly digest it; and neglect not so great a salvation, which has been planned for us miserable sinners. May we take great delight in the promises and invitations of thy word, and study its doctrines. By these means may we be made wise unto salvation, through faith in Christ Jesus.

By the instructions of thy Sabbaths do thou teach us thy will, reprove our sins, correct our errors, and thoroughly furnish us unto all good works. Grant us grace, by thy Spirit, to turn away our eyes from fables, and to endure sound doctrine; to love thy holy word,
