28. A gentleman gave £20 2s. to be be distributed in the following way: 28. 6d. to each of 60 old men, 2s. 4d. to each of 68 old women, and the remainder among 160 boys. Find the amount of a boy's share.

29. Divide £80 among five women and ten men, giving each man twice as much as a woman: what will a woman receive?

34. A schoolroom contained thirteen windows, and in each window there were nine panes of glass, costing 2s. 74d. each: find the entire cost.

51.-A gold digger disposed of a nugget, weighing thirteen ounces, for a fifty pound note: how much more would he have received had he sold it at the rate of three pounds, seventeen shillings and ten pence halfpenny per ounce ?

52. The President of the United States has a salary of twenty-five thousand dollars: how much is that in English money, a dollar being worth four shillings and two pence?

53.-How many chests of tea, each containing thirty-nine pounds, can be bought with seventy pounds, four shillings, the tea being sold at three shillings per pound?

54.-A cash-box was opened and found to contain three five pound notes, nineteen sovereigns, thirteen half-sovereigns, seven half-crowns, thirty-eight shillings, seventy-nine sixpences, and forty-seven threepenny-pieces. What sum must be added, so that when its contents are equally divided among one hundred poor persons, each may receive ten shillings?

58.-A cattle dealer bought seventeen oxen, at thirteen pounds, seven shillings and nine pence each. Two of them died, but the others he sold again, with a profit of three pounds and nine pence half-penny upon each. Find what he gained by the transaction.

59.-A person had in his purse a sovereign, a half-crown, and a florin, and paid out of it for thirteen pounds of sugar, at seven pence halfpenny a pound; and nineteen quarts of milk, at three pence farthing a quart: how much remained in his purse after these payments?

60.-What is the value of seven bales, each bale containing three pieces of calico, and each piece measuring thirty-nine and a half yards, at seven pence farthing per yard?

61.-A manufacturer paid in wages one hundred pounds a week among thirteen boys, eleven girls, and one hundred and twelve men. The boys were paid four shillings and six pence, and the girls three shillings and nine pence a week: find the average amount of a man's wage.

62.-A farmer bought one hundred and seven sheep, at thirty shillings and nine pence each, and re-sold eighty-six of them for one hundred and thirty-three pounds, six shillings at what price each must he sell the remainder, so as to make the entire gain six pounds, six shillings and six pence?

63.-The annual expenditure of a school was four hundred and sixtythree pounds, seven shillings and nine pence.
