CHAP. XVIII. The tabernacle set up at Shiloh. HE LORD also spake unto Joshua, saying, 2 Speak to the children of Israel, saying, Appoint out for you cities of refuge, whereof spake unto you by the hand of Moses: 10 Which the children of Aaron, being of the families of the Kohathites, who were of the children of Levi, had: for theirs was the first lot. 11 And they gave them the city of Arba the father of Anak (which city is Hebron) in the hill-country of Judah, with the suburbs thereof round about it. 12 But the fields of the city, and the villages thereof, gave they to Caleb the son of Jephun 3 That the slayer that killeth any person un-neh for his possession. awares and unwittingly, may flee thither and 13 Thus they gave to the children of Aaron they shall be your refuge from the avenger of blood. the priest, Hebron with her suburbs, to be a city of 4 And when he that doth flee unto one of those refuge for the slayer; and Libnah with her suburbs, cities shall stand at the entering of the gate of 14 And Jattır with her suburbs, and Eshitemoa the city, and shall declare his cause in the cars with her suburbs, of the elders of that city, they shall take him into the city unto them, and give him a place, that he may dwell among them. 5 And if the avenger of blood pursue after him, then they shall not deliver the slayer up into his hand; because he smote his neighbour unwit tingly, and hated him not beforetime. 6 And he shall dwell in that city, until he stand before the congregation for judgment, and until the death of the high priest that shall be in those days: then shall the slayer return, and come unto 15 And Holon with her suburbs, and Debir with her suburbs, 16 And Ain with her suburbs, and Juttah with her suburbs, and Beth-shemesh with her suburbs; nine cities out of those two tribes. 17 And out of the tribe of Benjamin, Gibcon with her suburbs, Geba with her suburbs, 18 Anathoth with her suburbs, and Almon with her suburbs; four cities. 19 All the cities of the children of Aaron, the priests, were thirteen cities with their suburbs. |
