William Mooney and his family were living in Telfair County, Georgia, by 1810. He was killed in an Indian battle known as "Battle of Breakfast Branch" in 1818. His son, John Mooney (1808-1864), and his wife, Mary Jane Barrow Moony, had at least eight children. The family migrated from Telfair County, Georgia, to Alabama, ca. 1844, and to Gonzales County, Texas, ca. 1848. Descendants listed lived in Texas and elswhere.
