WHEREAS, A strike of the employees of the elevated and surface lines of the city of Chicago was declared on the night of June 13, which if longer continued, would undoubtedly have resulted in great inconvenience and financial loss to the general public and business interests of the city of Chicago, as well as hardship and suffering to the workers and their families; and WHEREAS, It now appears that an amicable adjustment of all differences have, or soon will be, reached by all parties concerned through arbitration, the result of a determined effort on the part of the city administration of Chicago to arrive at a peaceable and satisfactory solution of the questions involved; therefore, be it Resolved, by the Senate of the State of Illinois, That the Mayor of the city of Chicago be commended for his successful efforts in terminating the controversy and restoring normal business and social conditions in the city, as well as throughout the State.
