Senate met pursuant to adjournment,

Hon. Barratt O'Hara, Lieutenant Governor and President of the Senate, presiding.

Prayer by the Chaplain.

The President of the Senate announced the question of the approval of yesterday's Journal would be postponed until the next legislative day.

By unanimous consent, on motion of Mr. Canaday, Senate Bill No. 14, for "An Act for a deficiency in office and other expenses of the Industrial Board for the period beginning January 1 and ending June 30, 1915,"

Having been engrossed, and printed as engrossed, was taken up and read at large a third time,

And the question being, "Shall this bill pass ?" it was decided in the affirmative by the following vote: Yeas, 47.

This bill, expressing an emergency in the body of the Act, rendered it necessary that it should go into effect immediately, and having received the votes of two-thirds of the members elected, was declared passed.

Ordered that the title be as aforesaid, and that the Secretary inform the House of Representatives thereof and ask their concurrence in the passage of the bill.

By unanimous consent, on motion of Mr. Piercy, Senate Bill No. 6, for "An Act to amend section 13 of an Act entitled, 'An Act for the assessment of property and for the levy and collection of taxes,' approved March 30, 1872, in force July 1, 1872, as amended by an Act in force. July 1, 1905,"

Having been engrossed, and printed as engrossed, was taken up and read at large a third time,

And the question being, "Shall this bill pass ?" it was decided in the affirmative by the following vote: Yeas, 47.

By unanimous consent, Mr. Canaday offered the following resolution, and, on his motion, the rules were suspended, and the resolution taken up and adopted:

SENATE RESOLUTION No. 26.

Resolved, That the President of the Senate appoint a committee of five Senators to wait upon His Excellency, the Governor, and inform him that the Senate is duly organized and is ready to receive any communication that he may desire to make.

The President of the Senate appointed as a committee provided. for by the foregoing resolution, Senators Canaday, Manny, Womack, Roos, and Harding.

Mr. Canaday, from the committee appointed to wait upon the Governor, reported that the committee had performed that duty, and that the secretary of the Governor was present and would communicate with the Senate by message.

By unanimous consent, Mr. Barr offered the following resolution, and on his motion, the rules were suspended and the resolution was taken up for consideration, and unanimously adopted:

SENATE RESOLUTION No. 27.

Resolved, That the following are hereby elected officers of the Fortyninth General Assembly for the regular and all special session:

Journal and Executive Secretary, J. H. Paddock, at a per diem of $10.00 to date from January 6, 1915, to have charge of the Journal of the Senate and to have concurrent jurisdiction with the Secretary of the Senate.

Postmaster, Adele H. Smith, with pay to date from January 6, 1915. Assistant Postmaster, Gladys Womack, with pay to date from January 6, 1915.
