panies operating within this State and to provide

173 An Act to prohibit persons lawfully detained in
any county jail or other place of imprisonment,
or in the custody of any officer upon any criminal
charge for the violation of any penal statute, from
breaking or leaving such jail or place of imprison-
ment or custody without lawful authority, and
to prohibit the giving, furnishing or supplying
to any person, lawfully detained in any county
jail or other place of imprisonment, with any in-
struments, tools, implements or chemicals, which
might be used by such person so detained in es-
caping or attempting to escape from such jail or
place of imprisonment, and to prohibit the aid-
ing, encouraging, abetting or assisting any such
person so detained from escaping from such jail
or place of imprisonment, and to provide penal-
ties therefor.
