Amend Senate Bill No. 3 as printed in the House, section 1, line 5, by inserting after the word "thousand" the following words: "five hundred."

AMENDMENT No. 2.

Amend Senate Bill No. 3, as printed in the House, section 1, line 8, by striking out the word "five" and inserting in lieu thereof the word "six."

AMENDMENT No. 3.

Amend Senate Bill No. 3, as printed in the House, section 1, by striking out all of lines 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18 of the printed bill.

On motion of Mr. Tossey, Senate Bill No. 227, a bill for “An Act to amend an Act entitled, 'An Act to amend an Act concerning circuit courts and to fix the time for holding the same in the several counties in the judicial circuits of the State of Illinois, exclusive of the county of Cook,' approved May 24, 1879, in force July 1, 1879, approved June 11, 1897, in force July 1, 1897, as amended by subsequent Acts by amending section 6 thereof,"

Having been printed, was taken up and read at large a second time, And the question being, "Shall the bill be engrossed and printed for a third reading ?" it was decided in the affirmative.

On motion of Mr. Pervier, Senate Bill No. 101, a bill for "An Act to amend section 189 of an Act entitled, 'An Act to establish and maintain a system of free schools,' approved and in force June 12, 1909, as thereafter amended,"

PRESENTATION OF RESOLUTIONS BY UNANIMOUS CONSENT.

Mr. Franklin offered the following resolution:

SENATE RESOLUTION No. 34.

The hand of death has fallen on one of the prominent citizens of the State of Illinois. One who has been long identified with the advancement of this State has gone from among us. He achieved a prominent position, both in the commercial and the civic world. He served with honor to the State and with credit to himself in the General Assembly of Illinois. His declining years doubtless were brightened by the standing and eminence of his son; be it

Resolved, That the members of the State Senate of Illinois, hereby convey to our colleague in the Senate, Thomas B. Stewart, and to the members of the family of the deceased our sincere sympathy in their bereavement; be it further

Resolved, That a copy of this resolution be incorporated in the Journal of the Senate and a copy engrossed and forwarded to the members of the bereaved family; be it further

Resolved, That we do now adjourn as a mark of respect to the deceased. By unanimous consent, the rules were suspended and the foregoing resolution was taken up for consideration and adopted by unanimous rising vote.

The President of the Senate then declared the Senate adjourned.
