The number of books already issued, similar in design and general character to the present, might seem to be a sufficient reason for with holding its publication; and the author has, on this ground alone, deferred it for a considerable period. His own experience, however, has at length convinced him that the publication is duly warranted. The numerous instances in which his pupils have found it necessary to lay aside the school-books, and have recourse to maga zines, and printed addresses, is considered suffi ciently indicative of a demand for new pieces, suited to the purposes of declamation.
