1. Gustav Adolph war ohne Widerspruch der erste Feldherr seines Jahrhunderts und der tapferste Soldat in seinem Heere, das er sich selbst erst geschaffen hatte.

2. Mit der Taktik der Griechen und Römer vertraut, hatte er eine bessere Kriegskunst erfunden, welche den größten Feldherren der folgenden Zeiten zum Muster diente.

3. Die unbehilflichen großen Escadrons verringerte er, um die Bewegungen der Reiterei leichter und schneller zu machen; zu eben dem Zwecke rückte er die Battaillons in weitere Entfernungen auseinander.

II. ZOOLOGY.

1. Draw up a tabular scheme of arrangement of the Classes of the animal kingdom.

2. Give the distinctive characters of a Vertebrate animal.

3. Describe the structure of the heart, and the circulation in the various classes of fishes.

4. Enumerate the principal orders of the class Crustaceae.

5. Compare the alimentary organs in a Carnivorous and in Ruminant quadruped.
