Tx C938nge Entered, according to Act of Congress, in the year 1875, by 151875 The. Apr. 1 RIVERSIDE, CAMBRIDGE: PREFACE. SINCE the first edition of this book was published, very many references to statutes enacted since 1869 and to decisions, both early and recent, have been accumulated by the authors, the notes on all those chapters of the General Statutes which are not now virtually obsolete, have been rendered complete, according to the original design of the work; and an Index, the want of which in the first edition was much felt, has been prepared with great care. Besides the Index and Table of Contents, an amount of new matter has been added to the body of the book, equal to considerably more than a third of the contents of the first edition, — not only the number of pages being increased, but, by an increase in the size of the page, the amount of matter on each page being also largely increased. The latest statutes noted in this edition, are those of 1874, and the latest decisions, those contained in Vol. 110 of the Massachusetts Reports. 1st. April 1875. URIEL H. CROCKER. |
