The following is a statement of the date of each accident, the place where it occurred, the train, the cause and the extent of the injuries inflicted upon each person, and the name of such person. 1875. February 26. John A. Noble, conductor, was struck by a bridge near Matteawan, N. Y., under which his train was passing, and instantly killed; no blame was attached to the railroad by the coroner's jury. The undersigned have caused the foregoing statements to be prepared by the proper officers and agents of this company, from the books and records, and have examined them as far as practicable, and believe them to be correct. Total... $25,000 00 $25,000 00 The Canandaigua and Corning Railroad Company was a corporation incorporated by the act of the Legislature, passed May 14, 1845, chapter 328, Laws of 1845; amended and name changed to Canandaigua and Elmira Railroad Company, March 8, 1850. That company constructed the railroad from Canandaigua to Jefferson (or Watkins), and mortgaged its property, corporate franchises, etc., to secure an issue of its bonds. This mortgage was subsequently foreclosed, and the mortgaged property purchased by Charles Congdon and Robert B. Potter, Esqs., who subsequently associated other parties with them, and formed this corporation (general railroad act, section 5, as amended, etc.), the articles of association of which were filed February 18, 1859, and to this company those gentlemen subsequently conveyed the property. The line was then leased to the New York and Erie Railway Company, for twenty years, from January 1, 1859, and by it operated until May, 1866, when the lease of January 1, 1859, was transferred to the Northern Central Railway Company, by which company it has since been operated. By the terms of the lease the lessee is to make the report concerning the condition and business of the road, as required by law.
