(ii) any person to whom the Senate by special grace Ch. XVI. under section 19 of the Indian Universities & Act of 1904 has granted permission to appear.

2. The examination for the Degree of Bachelor of Science shall be conducted partly by means of papers and partly vivá voce. Candidates shall also be required to undergo a practical examination.

3. At the examination for the Degree of Bachelor of Science every candidate shall be examined in

English

and in either (a) Mathematics,

Physics,

Inorganic Chemistry,

or (b) Inorganic Chemistry,
Organic Chemistry,

Biology.

CHAPTER XVII.

MASTER OF SCIENCE.

1. Any candidate who has been admitted to the Degree of Bachelor of Science in any University may, if he so desire, proceed to the Degree of Master of Science.

2. Any Bachelor of Science of the University of Allahabad may, one year after passing the B.Sc. Examination, be admitted to a Previous examination, provided he has attended a 66 regular course of study" at an affiliated College during that year.

3. Any Bachelor of Science of the University of Allahabad may, one year after passing the Previous examination, be admitted to the examination for the Degree of Master of Science: Provided he has attended regular course of study" at an affiliated College during that year.

4. The Faculty of Science shall from time to time prescribe the total number of lectures to be delivered during the academical year for a course of study both for the Previous and for the Final examination: Pro

Ch. XVII, vided that the number so prescribed shall not be less Ch. XVIII than 80.

Ch. XIX.

5. The examination shall be partly by means of papers and partly practical. In Mathematics the examination shall be by papers only.

6. The subject of examination shall be one of the following:

(1) Mathematics.

(2) Physics.

(3) Chemistry.

CHAPTER XVIII.

DOCTOR OF SCIENCE.

1. Any Bachelor of Science of the University of Allahabad may, one year after admission to the Degree of Master of Science, he admitted to the examination for the Degree of Doctor of Science: provided he has attended 6. a regular course of study at an affiliated College during that year.

2. The examination shall be partly by means of papers and partly practical. In Mathematics the examination shall be by papers only.

3. The subject of examination shall be one of the following:

1. Mathematics. | 2. Physics. | 3. Chemistry.

CHAPTER XIX

LICENTIATE OF TEACHING.

1. A graduate who has been admitted to the Degree of B.A. or B.Sc., or who has been admitted to a similar degree by the Universities of Calcutta, Madras, Bombay or the Punjab. and who has studied for the year previous to his examination at a College affiliated in the Branch of Teaching, shall, if he so desires, be permitted to proceed to the Degree of Licentiate of Teaching.

2. The examination shall be both in the Theory and Ch. XIX in the Practice of Teaching. In the Theory of Teaching the examination shall be conducted by means of papers.

3. A candidate shall further, in the presence of at least two Examiners appointed by the Board of Examiners, give satisfactory evidence of ability to manage a class and shall give two lessons on subjects embraced in the curriculum of High Schools, one of which shall be on the English language.

The examination in the practice of Teaching shall be conducted at the Training College at which the student was trained and the Examiners shall also take into consideration the record that has been kept at the College of the work done by the student during his course of training.

CHAPTER XX.

BACHELOR OF LAWS.

Any candidate

(i) who has been admitted to the Degree of B.A. or
B.Sc. in this or in any other British Indian or
English or Irish University or to the Degree of
Master of Arts in a Scotch University,

(ii) who has received from the Senate a special grace
under section 19 of the Indian Universities Act
of 1904,

shall be permitted to proceed to the Degree of Bachelor
of Laws.

2. Such candidate after completing a regular course of study" in an affiliated School of Law for not less than one academical year (of twelve months including vacations) shall be admitted to the Previous Examination in Law.

3. Every candidate for admission to this examination shall produce a certificate in the form hereinafter prescribed to the effect that he has prosecuted a regular course of study" in a School of Law affiliated to this

Ch. XX. University for not less than one academical year (of twelve months including vacations) after having passed the B.A. or the B.Sc. Examination.

4. The Previous Examination in Law shall be held once in every year at the following places :—

Agra, Allahabad, Aligarh, Bareilly, Cawnpore, Jabalpur, Lucknow, Meerut and Nagpur :

and at such other places as the Syndicate may from time to time appoint :

Provided always that the Syndicate, if not satisfied that proper arrangements can be made for supervision, may remove any place or places from the list of centres.

5. The Faculty shall from time to time prescribe the total number of lectures, not being less than eighty, to be delivered both for the Previous and for the Final examinations during the academical term.

6. The examination shall be conducted entirely by means of papers.

7. Every candidate shall present himself for the examination in the following subjects:---

(i) Jurisprudence.

(ii) The Law of Contracts.

(iii) The Law of Easements and Torts.

(iv) The Law of Evidence.

(v) Criminal Law and Procedure.

8. A paper shall be set in each of the above subjects, and the examination shall be held in such order as the Faculty may direct.

9. The Faculty shall from time to time recommend the text-books and the Acts to be studied in connection with the subjects prescribed both for the Frevious and the Final examinations.

19. No candidate shall be admitted to the examination for the Degree of Bachelor of Laws unless he has passed the Previous Examination in Law, and has since

passing the said examination prosecuted a "regular Ch. XX. course of study" for not less than one academical year of twelve months including vacations in a School of Law affiliated to the University.

10 (a). Notwithstanding anything contained in these Regulations, any candidate who has obtained the Degree of B.A, or B.Sc., as aforesaid shall, up to 31st December, 1908, be admitted to the Previous Examination in Law if he has prosecuted regular course of study" for not less than one academical year in a School of Law affiliated to the University, and to the LL.B. Examination if he has prosecuted such course of study for not less than two academical years prior to the 1st November, 1906.

11. A candidate failing to pass may be admitted to one or more subsequent examinations on his making a fresh application and on payment of a fresh fee, notwithstanding anything contained in Chapter XI, Regulation 16.

12. The examination shall be conducted partly vivā voce and partly by papers

13. Every candidate shall present himself for examination in the following subjects :

(i) Civil Procedure, Limitation.

(ii) In the case of candidates from the Central Prov-
inces including Berar, the Central Provinces
Tenancy Act, and the Central Provinces Land
Revenue Act, together with the rules made
thereunder; and in the case of other candi-
dates the Law relating to Land Tenures,
Rent and Revenue in the United Provinces
of Agra and Oudh.

(iii) Hindu Law, with the statutory modifications
thereof.

(iv) Mahommedan Law, with the statutory modfica-
tions thereof.
