THE very favorable reception which Walkingame's Arithmetic has always met with, and particularly the last edition, revised by Mr. Taplin, has induced the Proprietor to endeavour to secure a continuance of public approbation, by submitting the work to a thorough correction before publishing the present edition. The improvements upon former editions have been fully set forth in the last; these improvements have been preserved and extended, and the whole of the questions and their solutions have been so rigorously corrected, that it is hoped those errors which cause so much loss of time to both Pupil and Teacher, do not exist in this work. Those parts to which the present Editor would particularly direct the attention of Teachers, are the Rules of Proportion, where that important branch of Arithmetic will be found to be materially altered and improved.
