The Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor and Fellows having taken their seats, the Dean in Civil Engineering, the Honourable Mr. W. C. Hughes, M.Inst. C.E., C.I.E., supplicated a Grace of the Senate as follows:

"Mr. Chancellor,-On behalf of Bhaiyalal Dharamdas Dubey, of
the College of Science, Poona, I submit the certificate
quired by this University and move that the Senate do pass a
Grace for his admission to the Degree of Licentiate of Agri-
culture."

Whereupon the Chancellor put the question, "Doth it please you that this Grace be passed?" and, the Senate assenting, the Chancellor said, "This Grace is passed."

The Honourable Mr. W. C. Hughes. M.Inst.C.E., C.I.E., then prayed for the admission of the Candidate as follows:

"Mr. Chancellor,-On behalf of the aforesaid Candidate who has
been examined and found qualified for the Degree of Licentiate of
Agriculture, and who has been permitted by the Syndicate, in
accordance with Bye-law 40, to take his Degree in absentia, I
pray that he may be admitted thereto."

And the Chancellor then admitted him in the following form of words :By the authority given me as Chancellor of this University, I admit him to the Degree of Licentiate of Agriculture."

The Honourable Mr. W. C. Hughes, M. Inst.C.E., C.I.E., then presented twelve of the Candidates to the Chancellor and prayed for the admission of all in the following form of words:

"Mr. Chancellor,-I present to you the first twelve of the aforesaid Candidates who have been examined and found qualified for the Degree of Licentiate of Civil Engineering, to which I pray they may be admitted; and on behalf of the last seventeen who have been permitted by the Syndicate, in accordance with Bye-law 40, to take their Degree in absentia, I pray that they also may be admitted thereto."

And the Chancellor then admitted them in the following form of words:

"By the authority given me as Chancellor of this University, I admit you, one and all, to the Degree of Licentiate of Civil Engineering, and I charge you that ever in your life and conversation you show yourselves worthy of the same.'

The same form was gone through successively in the case of the Candidates for the Degrees of Licentiate of Medicine and Surgery, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Laws, and Master of Arts; Dr. Temulji Bhikaji Nariman, L.M., Dean in Medicine, supplicating for and presenting the Candidates in Medicine, the Honourable Mr. E. Giles, M.A., Dean in Arts, supplicating for and presenting the Candidates in Arts, and the Honourable Mr. P. M. Mehta, M.A., C.I.E., Dean in Law, supplicating for and presenting the Candidates in Law, and the same words mutatis mutandis being used.

The Registrar then made a Declaration of the Degrees as follows:-

The following Report was then read by the Registrar :

MR. CHANCELLOR,-I have the honour, by direction of the Syndicate, to lay before you and, the Senate a Report of the proceedings of the University since the last Annual Convocation for conferring Degrees, held on the 19th February 1901.

The Report mentions the principal results of the University Examinations, Endowments to the University, and the more important Academical events of the past year.

EXAMINATIONS.

University School Final Examination.-At this Examination there were one thousand one hundred and sixty-two Candidates. The Examination was conducted at Bombay, Poona, Ahmedabad, Belgaum and Karachi.

The following is a statement showing the number of Candidates sent up from the various Schools and by Private Tutors, and the number of those who succeeded in passing the Examination :
