Honour Practical Examination.

2. There shall be a simple practical examination in all subjects other than English and Mathematics.

3. In all cases where the answers are written in English, Examiners, in giving marks, shall take the correctness of the English, into account.

4. One paper shall be set in English, requiring short essays to be written on some portion of a subject in (a) Physical Science or Chemistry, and (b) in one other of the Optional Subjects taken up by the Candidate. Each Essay

on the respective subjects must be written in a separate answer-book. In the Pass Papers in Mathematics one-half of the marks shall be assigned to easy riders and problems.

5. Different papers shall be prepared for the Pass and the Honour candidates. The questions set in the papers for Pass candidates shall be taken only from the Pass course, and the questions set to the candidates for Honours shall be taken from both the Pass and the Honour courses. In the papers set to the Honour candidates, the questions taken from the Pass course shall be more difficult than those in the papers set to candidates for a Pass only. The papers shall be headed Mathematics* First Pass paper; Mathematics Second Pass Paper; Mathematics* First Honour paper; Mathematics Second Honour Paper; Mathematics Third Honour Paper; Mathematics* Fourth Honour Paper.

6. The papers shall be headed and distributed among the various subjects follows:

In order to pass in the Pass Course in any subject a candidate must obtain 33 per cent. of the total number of marks allotted to the subject. In order to pass the B.Sc. Examination a candidate must obtain 40 per cent. in the aggregate.

In order to pass the B.Sc. Examination with Honours, a candidate must take up and obtain Honours in at least two subjects, Mathematics counting as a double subject.

As an exception to the ordinary rule, making Mathematics a compulsory subject, a candidate who, after Examination in English, Physics and Chemistry and any two of the other subjects, passes in all five and obtains Honours in at least three subjects (English excepted), may obtain the degree of B.Sc. without taking up mathematics.

In order to obtain Honours in the First Division in any subject, a candidate must obtain 60 per cent. of the total number of marks allotted to that subject, and, in order to obtain Honours in the Second Division in any subject, a candidate must obtain 40 per cent. of the total number of marks allotted to that subject.

In order to pass in an Honour Subject, a candidate must obtain 30 per cent. of the total number of marks allotted to that subject.

If a candidate obtains Honours in two or more subjects, no minimum aggregate shall be required, but if a candidate does not obtain Honours in two subjects, he must, in order to qualify as a Pass candidate, obtain 480 marks in the aggregate; and if he has taken up two or more Honour subjects 55 per cent. of marks obtained in those subjects shall be counted towards the aggregate.
