7. Briefly summarise the procedure to be followed by Magistrates in decid. I ing cases of public nuisances. When may a Magistrate issue an injunction in & case of nuisance ?

Can the person against whom an order is passed by a Magistrate under Chapter X sue to establish his exclusive right of enjoyment to the land affecte ed by the Magistrate's order ?

8. (a) How is right to sue kept alive by fraud ?

(6) What are the provisions of the Limitation Act relating to legal disabilities?

9. What is the period of limitation and what is the time from which Buch period begins to run in the following suits ? :

(1) A suit upon a foreign judgment as defined in the C. P. Code.
(2) A suit for the restitution of conjugal rights.
(3) A suit for compensation for doing or for omitting to do an act

alleged to be in pursuance of any enactment in force in British

(4) A suit for the price of lodging.

10. Illustrate by cases the following :- “ Section 50 of Act III of 1877 15 has no retrospective operation upon documents registered under the earlier Acts."

(a) A in consideration of Rs. 150 executed in favour of B a sale-deed

of immoveable property, which is lost within the time allowed for its registration. After the execution of the lost sale-deed, A resells the property by a registered deed and delivers possession thereof to C who has notice of the sale to B. What are B's

rights against A and C? (8) A borrowed Rs. 1,000 from S and R jointly under a registered

mortgage-deed, the shares of the mortgagees in the loan being one-third and two-thirds respectively. S and R sued A for sale of the mortgaged property. A pleaded payment and produced an unregistered receipt passed by R for his share of the mortgage money. It was objected that it was inadmissible in evidence. How will you decide the point ?

1. State briefly your exact conception of the term acceleration, giving 1 familiar illustrations,


Show that the velocity v of a body moving with uniform acceleration f, after a time t, is given by o=ft.

The velocity of a body increases every minute at the rate of 300 metres per minute. Express the acceleration of the body in centimetres per second per second.

2. Enunciate and explain the Third Law of Motion, Explain the 13 action of the Eolipyle.

A ball moving with a velocity of 16 feet per second strikes directly against another ball at rest and is reflected back with a velocity of 2 feet per second. If the mass of the second ball be double that of the first, find the subsequent motion of the second ball.

3. What is meant by the centre of gravity of a body? How will you 12 practically determine the centre of gravity of a given body, e.g., a chair ?

Explain stable, unstable and neutral equilibriums, giving familiar illustrations.


4. (a) Distinguish between the Solid and Fluid states of matter.

(6) Enumerate the different kinds of forces exhibited in Solids.
(c) State the laws of Torsion.


5. In a Bramah's press, the diameters of the pistons are 4 and 0.5 inches respectively. The smaller piston is attached to & lever of the first kind of mechanical advantage 4. Find the pressure produced on the larger piston, when a force of 2 lbs. is applied at the end of the lever,

A cylinder of silver floats, with its axis vertical, in mercury (sp. gr. = 13:5) with ths of its axis immersed in it. Find the specific gravity of silver.

7. Describe a mercury barometer and state on what principle its action 13 depends.

A bubble of air in rising from a depth of 99 feet to the surface of a lake of water increases fourfold in volume. Find the atmospheric pressure at the time.

8. What do you understand by the property of diffusion of gases ? 15 State the relation of the density of a gas to its rate of diffusion through a . porous diaphragm. How may this relation be experimentally verified ?

It was fou nd that 80 C. Co of a certain gas diffused through a porous diaphragm in the same time as 93.8 C. c. of oxygen. If the density of oxygen be 16, show that the density of the unknown gas is about 22.0.

1. The strength of a solution of Corrosive Sublimate is supposed to be 14 1 in 1000. On titration, 20 c.c. of decinormal Silver Nitrate are required to precipitate the whole of the salt contained in 40 c.c. of the solution. Assuming that the Corrosive Sublimate is pure, what is the correct strength of the solution?

2. Describe all the methods which you know of preparing Chlorine Gas 19 and name its properties. What effects are produced when Chlorine is brought into contact with Hydrogen, Bromine, Iodine, Ammonia, Hydrogen Sulphide and Sulphur Dioside?

3. What compound is produced when electric sparks are passed between 19 Carbon terminals in a vessel containing Hydrogen? How is this compound now commonly obtained ? Name its properties and uses.

4. What are the common ores of Zinc ? How is the metal extracted 1: and what are its properties ?

SECTION B. 5. What volume (approximately) of atmospheric air, at normal tempera- 11 ture and pressure, can be obtained from the Oxygen supplied by 22 grammes of Mercuric Oxide and the Nitrogen available from 15 grammes of Ammonium Nitritejp Show the change in volume under 740 m. m. pressure and at 23 C.

6. What do you understand by Quantivalence ? Explain the variation 12 observed in the case of certain elements and specify the quantivalence of the following :

Lead, Silver, Iron, Aluminium, Silicon, Boron and Arsenic. 7. Explain the constitution of the closed Carbon chain in its simplest 19 form and shew the position upon it of ortho, meta and para substitution products.

8. Sulphuretted Hydrogen is passed through an aqueous solution of 13 the follwing:

Ferric Chloride, Chrome Alum, Cadmium Sulphate, Stannic Chloride,

Potassium Chromate, and Magnesium Sulphate. Explain the changes that occur and shew the effects of adding dilute acids and alkalis to the solutions, before passing the gas.

3. Describe the compound leaves, and mention the terms employed in lõ describing their special modifications. Briefly discuss the nature of the leaf in Aurantiaceæ.


4. Describe the irregular polypetalous and irregular gamopetalous 15 corollas. 5. Describe dehiscent and indehiscent monocarpellary fruits.

Name the plants belonging to each, and discuss the affinities of these orders with allied orders.
