That Decrees 10, 12, 15, 16, 18, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, which were approved by Convocation on June 15, 1915, shall remain in force until the first day of Michaelmas Term, 1920, and shall then cease to be operative, unless renewed.

(5)

That Decrees 11, 13, 14, 17, which were approved by Convocation on June 15, 1915, shall remain in force until December 31, 1917, and shall then cease to be operative, unless renewed.

Regulations made by the Vice-Chancellor and Proctors in reference to the foregoing Decrees.

In pursuance of the authority given by Decree (24) approved by Convocation on June 15, 1915 (University Gazette, June 16, 1915, p. 727) the Vice-Chancellor and Proctors have issued the following Regulations, which supersede the Regulations (University Gazette, January 14, 1915, p. 284) made by the Vice-Chancellor and Proctors under Decree 3 approved by Convocation on November 17, 1914.

A. GENERAL REGULATIONS.

1. Every application which is made under the Decrees aforesaid, or under Regulations framed by the Vice-Chancellor and Proctors, shall be transmitted through the Society to which the applicant belongs to the Registrar at the University Registry.

2. Every application addressed to the Registrar shall be delivered at the University Registry not later than seven days before the date, if in Full Term, by which a decision is desired. In Vacation an interval of not less than fourteen days must be allowed, no days in the month of August being reckoned in computing the interval.

3. Every application shall specify the Decree or Decrees under which the request is made. If the application is made on the ground of Military Service, it shall be accompanied by a certificate signed by the Head or Vicegerent of the Society to which the applicant belongs, stating the nature and duration of such Military Service. If the application is due to

some reason arising out of the War other than Military Service, the certificate of the Head or Vicegerent must state the conditions upon which the applicant was appointed, as well as the nature and duration of the work. It is desirable that specific dates should be given where practicable. Applications on behalf of candidates applying under Decrees (5) and (7) of November 17, 1914, must, in addition, state the date on which the applicant would have come into residence but for the War.

4. Military Service will be interpreted as meaning Military Service during the present War in His Majesty's naval and military forces.

B. PARTICULAR REGULATIONS.

1. DECREE (II).

The name of a candidate for the Degree of Bachelor of Arts must be entered by the proper authority of the Society to which he belongs at the University Registry before noon on the day preceding the Degree Day; at the same time a certificate must be produced, signed by the Vice-Chancellor and Proctors, showing either (a) that he has produced satisfactory evidence through the Society to which he belongs of having fulfilled the conditions in regard to Military Service in the present War laid down by the aforesaid Decrees; or (b) that he has satisfied the Vice-Chancellor and Proctors that he has been absent from the University for a reason deemed by them sufficient arising out of the present War. The fee of £3 must be paid to the University Chest through the Registrar.

2. DECREE (12).

When the name of a candidate for the Degree of Bachelor of Arts is entered at the University Registry the necessary evidence as to residence must be submitted, and the fee of £2 must be paid to the University Chest through the Registrar.

3. DECREE (23).

The name of a candidate for the Degree of Master of Arts, or for the Degree of Bachelor of Civil Law, must be entered at the University Registry before noon on the day preceding the Degree Day, and the necessary evidence as to his eligibility must be submitted at the same time.
