From the fourth district,-Charles C. Valle. From the fifth district.-Andrew Goforth. From the seventh district.-Elliott Lee and John Walsh. From the ninth district.-Hans Smith. From the eleventh district.-William K. Vanarsdall. From the twelfth district.-Alexander M. Robison. From the fifteenth district.-Owen Rawlins and Thomas J. Gorham. From the sixteenth district.-Daniel Ashby. From the seventeenth district.-James T. V. Thompson. From the eighteenth district.-Abram McClelland. From the nineteenth district.-Joseph Montgomery. From the twenty first district.-John D. Williams. From twenty second district.-Joseph Weaver. A quorum being present, the president requested Abel Rathbone Corbin, to act as secretary pro tem. Messrs. Deguire, Byrd, Lee, Walsh, McDaniel, Rawlins, Gorham, Montgomery, and Jones, severally presented their credentials, were qualified and took their seats. On motion of Mr. Byrd, The Senate proceeded to the election of Secretary. Messrs. Hiram H. Baber, M. V. Harrison, and Joseph B. Wells, were severally nominated, and on the first ballot, there appeared, For Mr. Baber-Messrs. D. Jones, McClelland, and Williams. For Mr. Harrison-Messrs. Deguire, Goforth, Lee, McDaniel, Rawlins, Robison, and Valle. For Mr. Wells-Messrs. Ashby, Byrd, Gorham, Smith, Walsh and Weaver. Neither candidate having a majority, the Senate proceeded to a second ballot, when there appeared, For Mr. Baber-Messrs. D. Jones, M'Clelland and Williams. |
